It's a fragrance I could wear daily, but I understand that it's more suited for autumn, early spring, winter, cold days, and nights. Mild patch
This is a very mild patchouli with a hint of clean musk. I cannot stand when people refer to the patchouli scent as "dirty". That's a dumb reference based on the scent hiding their body odors when the hippies wore it in the 60's. Nothing dirty about this elegant and exoticly perfumed flower. This rendition is pleasant although overpriced. I do like the silk pouch the canister comes in.

I love Patchouli so this was right up my alley. I will say that this is not a head shop Patch, it's a nicer gentle patch that's very wearable almost slight floral. I would definitely recommend this especially for fall and winter. Sweater weather perfume!

This is the lightest perfume bottle ever! The contents are pure gold. Patchouli is a tough thing to purchase blindly. It can be overwhelming, dirty, or too loud. Balanced correctly like this formulation, its beautiful. There is no oud in this. Montale is known for its oud. I detect a little amber. Its a linnear fragrance. Its dry down smells pretty much like its opening. Projects about 2 feet at room temperature. Not getting a lot of sillage. That could be a good thing. Too much sillage with patchouli scents can be offensive. This one draws people in. I had a bottle before repurchasing at FrangranceX. It was a fantastic enough scent that I had to repurchase Patchouli Leaves. Its unisex as well.

Nostalgia in a bottle
Patchouli leaves by Montale is probably the first fragrance in a long time that actually brings up a memory and transports me to another time... I grew up on a mountain by a lake in the middle of nowhere Montana. There was a creek that ran through our property that we had to clean regularly in order to avoid flooding (and to just keep it looking nice). Pulling muddy, mossy, woody debris out of the creek had a certain smell that I have not smelled since those days. I'm sure only a select few reading this know what I'm talking about and the rest are probably thinking "ew, what." This fragrance is that smell in the best way. It's earthy, it's muddy, it's dark. It is so spot on I am immediately transported back to that moment getting wet and muddy in the creek with my family...and then it gets sweet during the dry down and I come back to reality ;) It's also pretty potent and emits a nice cloud. My BEST blind buy yet.
